Lara Salmon is a visual artist who works primarily in performance.

In her pieces, she uses her body to produce micro-movements which draw attention to macro, global structures.

The work is at a constant interplay between overindulgence and restriction to her body. She dismembers time, accelerating it through rushes of excess, or expanding it through prolonged or repetitive movement.

With quiet determination Lara’s work responds to a personal story of living with chronic pain.

Lara was born in San Diego, California. She has a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, completing her thesis at The American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon, and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California.

Lara is based in Los Angeles and shows in the states, Europe and the Middle East and North Africa region.
